Dear Friend:

I want to invite your daughter to join Girl Scouts.  The Daisy Ridge Service Unit (which is a part of the Girl Scout Council of Northwest Georgia) has a number of existing troops and will form new troops this year as volunteer leaders are available.  Girl Scouts is open to girls in Kindergarten through High School.   Joining a Girl Scout troop is a great way to make new friends and enjoy lots of new experiences.

Kindergarten girls are called Daisy Girl Scouts.  They don’t sell cookies or go camping, but they learn about Girl Scouting and have lots of fun with a low-key program designed especially for them.

Girl Scouts in Grades 1-3 are Brownies, Grades 4-6 are Juniors and special opportunities are available for older girls.  Girls in Grades 1 through High School can go camping, sell cookies, earn try-its/ badges, and explore a world of new adventures.

Troops are formed as volunteer leaders are available.  Please consider volunteering to serve as a troop leader or assistant leader.  No experience is needed; you just need to enjoy working with girls.  Training will be provided and leaders determine the time frame for meetings.  Meetings can be after school, in the evenings or on weekends – whatever works best for you!  We can’t make this happen for your daughter unless leaders are available.  Please volunteer to make this possible for her.

To learn more about Girl Scouts, e-mail Cindy Durham at cindy_durham@bellsouth.net.  In your e-mail, please provide the following information:  your name, an evening phone number, your daughter’s name, grade in school and the school she attends.

You aren’t committing to anything.  You are simply expressing possible interest and asking someone to contact you with more information.  We will be contacting parents over the next few weeks as leaders become available.

Yours in Girl Scouting!

Cindy Durham
